Since my last post it has continued to be mostly hot and humid with rain just about every day. Fortunately it’s been dry in the morning so Neil has been able to get out and bike and we even had a couple days where we could open the doors for a couple of hours to get some fresh air…we are really looking forward to being able to open up for the winter.
Other than that…it’s pretty much been life. Connie got a crown replaced and had her post surgery mammogram with all being good there, followed up by the post mammogram appointment with her surgeon…again all well there. Then we had the Florida Ladies of Elks conference in Daytona Beach so we spent a couple days up there. Next Sunday her choir director will be out of town so she’s cantoring all 3 masses that weekend.
It looks like Alabama’s football team finally decided to play a complete game yesterday…they got off to a quick start on defense against an undefeated Mississippi State team with a turnover on MSU’s drive after the kickoff. That turned into a touchdown and then after the ensuing kickoff the defense got a pick 6 so 3 minutes into the game they were up by 14. On offense…they finally decided that running the ball was important so they played a lot of 2 or 3 tight ends, used the old power I formation and ran the ball effectively the whole game. The last couple of. years running has not gone well for them but this year’s team appears to have rectified that so they’re 5-0 at this point with Georgia visiting them next Saturday. Miami is also undefeated so far so Connie is also happy about that.
OK, in the last post we had departed Melk, Austria for Passau, Germany and we arrived there early the next morning. We did the walking tour…so let’s get to some photos.
The Veste Niederhaus fortress across from where the ship moored in Passau.

Bronze Bust of Emerenz Meier statue on the pier there.

The Veste Niederhaus fortress is connected to the Veste Oberhaus fortress. They were originally separated but were connected together and were the headquarters of the Prince-Bishops of Passau.

This shows the level of the flooding in various years in Passau…note the 2013 level second from the top. This building is close to the river, the following image was taken from the same location after Neil did a 90 degree left turn, the two guys in the center at rear are walking along the edge of the riverbank.

Images from Saint Stephen’s Cathedral in Passau.

The organ is undergoing refurbishment.

Notice the crowds…they were there for the 1200 organ concert which unfortunately we missed since we had another place to be…too bad.

It turns out that Neil messed up when he was processing photos and skipped over Regensburg and Nuremburg in Germany as we were there before Passau. I’ve yelled at him about that and will get to those images next time.
Interesting things found on the net.
